How to remove Wax from Clothes or Material

Remove Wax from Clothes or Material. Wax can easily drip from candles onto a tablecloth and coloured wax stains can be tough to remove. Our expert, Bea Knapp will show you a quick and easy way to deal with wax stains.
Step 1: You will need
·                 1 sharp knife
·                 some Blotting paper or paper towels
·                 1 iron
·                 1 towel
·                 some Water
·                 some oxygen based stain remover
·                 1 bowl
·                 1 spoon
Step 2: Dry the wax
Wait for the wax to dry before trying to remove it. This shouldn't take long as wax dries very quickly.
Step 3: Scrape it away
Use a knife to scrape the wax off the fabric. Remove as much as you can. Shake the shavings off the tablecloth.
Step 4: Iron
Lay the garment on a flat surface and heat an iron. Slip an old towel underneath the tablecloth to protect the surface you are ironing on. Then place a piece of blotting paper over the affected area and run the iron over it a few times to melt the wax. If you don't have any blotting paper, you can use a paper towel. The paper will absorb the wax as it melts.
If the area of paper you are ironing becomes saturated, move it to a fresh spot and keep ironing until all the wax has been removed.
Step 5: Leave to cool
Carefully remove the paper, switch off the iron and leave the garment to cool.
Step 6: Coloured wax stains
If the wax was coloured and has left a stain, you will need to treat this with care. Dissolve a dessert spoon of oxygen based stain remover in a bowl of water. Place the material in the bowl and stir a few times. Leave the stained area to soak for as long as it needs. This could take several hours, so you may need to leave it overnight to give the stain remover enough time to work.
Step 7: Wash
Finally, wash the tablecloth as you normally would to get rid of any traces of the stain. Dry as normal.
